I´m a little tired!

Dear family, 2-27-12
Well this week no one wrote me again. We had a baptism and everything but yesterday after it all I was so exhausted and just wanted to know how you all were doing. I think I´m really losing myself in the work because I pulled out my photo album yesterday and felt like I forgot what it was like to even have a family and feel the joy when I was with you all. I missed you guys a lot and hope you all know how important you are to me. I feel I´ve been on my mission so long I talk about love and express and feel the love God has for these people but I miss that family love when we are together. Like I said we did have a baptism this week of a 10 year old, whose name is L. R. He’s an awesome boy and I love him. He will grow up and be a future missionary. I also had a training meeting with the leaders of the mission and we all got a couple training on how to teach better and how we can then teach these things to our zones or districts. I love being a district leader but I´m so sick of disobedience. Let me tell you future missionaries, don´t go on your mission if you really don´t care, because you´ll never feel weight and power of being a missionary. I am having some problems in my district again about obedience and sometime it makes you have to stay up later than usual worrying or waking up early to go visit the houses of these missionaries. Its true what my zone leader told me when I first became DL, "District leaders are like the mom´s of the mission". I´m become very strict now and I don´t like it but sometimes people just don´t respond.
We have another baptism this weekend and someone who is 18 years old. I´m pretty excited. To be honest this ward is going to be a hard one to part from because I feel like I´ve gotten to know the members so well and I´m really going to miss them. I think this next transfer I´m out of here so I have 3 more weeks to do what I can and then leave it in the hands of my companion. It’s interesting after so much time in the same area that’s so small you keep finding people to teach and want to accept the gospel; really everyone has a different time to prepare to hear the gospel. The sad part for me is why don´t they accept it sometimes. It’s sad. I´ve learned a ton this week on how to really use the spirit to teach and how I must teach the doctrine so that the people can receive all the blessing of the gospel not just to try and get them to come to church or try to get them to do things that we want them to do. Its so that they can receive all the blessing of the gospel.
Well love you all and hope this was a wonderful week for you and that I´ll actually hear from you next week.
love,
Elder corbett

Just for the record I did write to him but late. He will get double the next week. Please forgive us!!!

Oh that I were an Angel! Alma 29: 1-2

Dear Family and friends,                                                                                                           2-20-12

Well another week here in Alborada, we had the same problem like always right before his baptism Yoshi froze up a little but he`s still real excited and he said in two weeks when he finishes his studies he`ll get baptized. We have another boy that’s 10 years old and  part of his family are members that’s going to get baptized this week. The work is progressing, more than anything we are looking for the people and families that are ready to progress in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This week we have found 13 new investigators and a ton of them are super excited to listen to us. We had 8 investigators come to church and they absolute loved it and love how friendly and loving the members are. So remember everyone, you need to be super friendly and care about the people that come to church and that they can feel the spirit and at peace. We have a family that we finally could visit yesterday, we actually dedicated their house and explained a little about our message. They are a reference from their neighbors and 3 of the 4 family members have attended 2 weeks in a row! Its wonderful! We just need to get the father to come, but they really are grateful for the things they have felt.   I feel they are ready to progress and it will be an eternal family! So we are working really hard with the members as well and walking in this heat everywhere, I sweat all day long but that’s the work here in PerĂ¹ and no one cares or even notices.
On other notes, No mom transfers were 2 weeks ago. It’s ok if you can`t keep track ,I`ll tell you when I leave. lol But I think when I do leave I think I’ll die in my next area.(Die meaning finish my mission there) after this transfer I only have 6 transfers left AHHH! WOW its going by way to fast I`m too young and inexperienced to have 15 month in the mission. Well I don`t feel to inexperienced anymore,  I feel actually pretty experienced.   feel because of the leadership I`ve been able to have and being Senior companion pretty fast I feel a lot more confident in myself that I can do this without fear and with the spirit!
That’s the key, always having the spirit! I actually had an experience this week with that where we were on a street of a family that I visited 2 months ago that we talked to once and never could find them again came into my mind.  I told my companion there is a family here that I feel we need to visit. We went and didn`t talk to the mom who I talked to before, but her daughters who are 17 and 11 years old and they listened and both came to church yesterday and loved it and I feel already after knowing them for 3 days they are my friends and I can`t wait to see them accept the message we have for them!
Here are some pictures of when I went to Canta (the ones with the waterfalls) and then the others are when I did a work visit with the zone leaders and it was a pretty sweet sunset and we had to take advantage of the opportunity!
I love you all and hope you all know I`m giving it my all here, I only have 9 months left and every time I think about how little time that is I think about all the ways I`ve grown in my mission and how much I love being here and don`t want to leave these people, they mean everything to me! Love your neighbors as thyself because without charity we are nothing!

love ya all,

I´m going to fast more!

2-13-12

Dear family and friends,

I think everyone gave talks yesterday, so did I!! lol but I didn´t have as much time as you all did to prepare! I was preparing only since Friday night when I learned we had talks Sunday. But I was given the talk of 15 mins and was super excited because I hadn´t given a talk in this ward yet, so it had been a while. But my companion as first wanted the 15 min talk and I said if you can name more members names then me you can have it, he didn’t say anything after that! So I gave my talk on of course missionary work, but I talked about how important we are to God. How small we are out of ALL of his creations but how special we are for him and that is the work he does. It’s for all of us, and just for our salvation and so maybe that puts our problems of work and family in order. That we aren´t here for the temporal we are here for the spiritual. Then I talked about what Pres. Eyring said of how we promised to be witnesses of Christ and how we need to be those people that testify of Christ but with deed. I said there are 3 things that a witness of Christ needs: 1. testimony of God and Jesus Christ 2. Live the gospel of Jesus Christ in every aspect of their lives 3. Defender of Truth and good. I hope it really got to their heart the message that I wanted to share with them. I can´t believe how the spirit guided my thoughts because I only had a little time to prepare.

We are working hard with the Ward! We did a fast this week for the ward and we are really seeing fruits,, this has greatly increased my trust in the lord and love to share the gospel in this area. I don´t want to leave like other times I had felt. It’s like we had some members that brought there neighbors and are super interested to know more and then we had another young boy who finally got permission from his dad to get baptized. He will get baptized this month. Its miraculous right in front of my eyes and I know these are blessings of my prayers, fasts, and as well hard work! I love this mission time. I may have only a couple areas but I know this is where I´m needed. Heavenly Father knows me and that when it talks of the people that are prepared to hear my voice it is talking of these people. I love the mission! ;-)

Love from your Son, grandson, nephew, brother, and friend,

Elder Corbett!

I love this kid!!!

Working hard!

Dear Family and Friends, 2-6-12

wow what a crazy Transfer! I´m going nowhere again! So after this transfer I will be in this area for 4 transfers and 1/2. I think I want to get to know a little more of the mission! Haha just think I´ll have 16 months and just 2 areas! That’s a little ridiculous to me! Well anyway the work presses on! I´m going to be working hard these next couple weeks as well with the same companion and we actually have a lot of progress in the area. We had 6 people come to church and so that was way awesome and as well an attendance of 118 which is pretty good for us! We are trying to help the leaders take control of the quorums or groups and as well think about the missionary work that we need to be doing. We are trying to go out more with the members and get them excited to work. We do have one problem here in the ward though and that is I´m ward mission leader LOL. No not really but I feel like I´m doing everything that the ward mission leader does. We are trying to get out mission leader to recharge the batteries and go back to work in his calling.

Oh the other sides, we had a investigator named Ana, who at first didn´t want anything to do with the church she Catholic and as well attending another little church group but she likes our teachings and came to church yesterday after a couple of weeks visiting here. It was pretty cool to see here there when we walked in to Sacrament Meeting. I then taught the Gospel Principles lesson and realized that I love to teach! I feel like I´ve become an effective teacher that involves everyone in the lesson and makes sure everyone understands. We learned about agency yesterday! Well besides that me and my companion are trying our best to get along and work hard. He´s un interesting guy and hope everything goes well this next transfer with him!

Ummm and think that’s all I love you all and thank you for your support and love. I know this work is true, I know the church is true and God has given us commandments for our happiness and protection that make us free!

Love,

Elder Corbett

p.s. How did BYU do in football and hows it going with there basketball game this year?
